We were called to transform our clients garden in Chelmsford primarily because they wanted more outdoor entertainment space. They also had trees that had grown too big and were blocking out the sunlight.

They had recently had a garden room built and so it was important to build a garden which included this. It’s not always easy to incorporate large structures within a design so we would always recommend contacting us prior to any other works as it can be difficult to reposition afterwards. As it happened our client’s building was in the correct place for aspect so it worked perfectly.

We included a large 6m x 3m louvered pergola within the design from Suns Lifestyle which will, nearer the Summer, house a lounge sofa and cooking area, a composite seating area which gets the morning sun and also two other areas for seating. Plenty of space for entertaining a large family!

We fell in love with the natural stone pavers (London Stone) which acts as a header around the paving and also creates the pathways. The porcelain paving which compliments the pavers is from Lower Barn Farm.

Four large trees, from the original garden, we removed and replaced with two huge Magnolia trees for screening together with three Ligustrums. All the other planting is a mixture of perennials with a white and green colour theme.

Uplighters were positioned on all the trees together with additional lighting in the gravel fire-pit and on the upright timber posts that hide the air-conditioning unit.
